MET OPP: Foil replacement
MET OPP is a very versatile and popular foil-replacement solution for coffee, nuts, dried fruits, powdered nutrition and energy drinks, seasonings, soups, rice and mixes. It is also sought after for a variety of food packaging structures that require a non-toxic, non-allergenic, low-foaming barrier material.
It provides flex-crack and puncture-resistance, gas-barrier durability, yield, economic and aesthetic benefits equal to or better than those of foil. It runs well on pouch lines, and its tamper-evident properties help meet FDA requirements for safe food packaging.
PET-met: Aluminum vaporization instead of aluminium foil
In the case of acidic, alkaline or salt-containing foods, metallized PET-met films are ideal for replacing aluminium foil. They are less sensitive to corrosion and more winkle-resistant than aluminium foil.
They are lighter and more flexible than foil. They have more surface area per pound than foil, so they deliver greater pack-processing benefits and can be manufactured at lower costs.
Aside from these general advantages, metallized films are very good for retaining the properties of their substrates they are bonded to. In addition, they can be formulated with additives that increase adhesion and bonding of the metal coating to the substrate.
